Righteousness

Do we become righteous because of the things that we do or because of who we are? A lot of Christians have misconception about this. When they become Christians, they think by being a good person and they will be called righteous and some think by doing good all the times and they will be called righteous.

We are not righteous because of how morally right we are or because we exercise self control or because we read 10 chapters of bible every day. Then we are no different than people in the world. They can just pick up a bible and read it for leisure reading if they want to. Does that make them righteous? A lot of people doing good deeds, not cursing, donating to charity and they don’t smoke or drinks, doing drugs. Are they righteous? And the opposite is true. A lot of so called Christians are doing all of those. Are they righteous because they called themselves Christians?

People are justified because of Christ not because of what they do. In Romans 5:8-11 Jesus died while we are still sinners. It is important. Because a lot of people think that they are not worthy to come to Christ because they are sinners. Well, if we wait until we are righteous, it will never happen.

2 Corinthians 5:21 says “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

We are righteous only because of Jesus sacrifice on the cross, and when we believe this, our faith is accounted for righteousness. Have faith and believe in God. It is not because of our good work or our good characters that we become righteous. It is not because we follow the commandments and the laws of God 100% that we become righteous. But it is solely because of His sacrifice on the cross and our faith that believe in His sacrifice for us that we become righteous. And right there when we believe, God will change us from the inside out and we will have a good character and do good deeds, not the other way around.

Galatians 2:16

Daily prayer
Jesus, I believe that You saved me while I am still a sinner and because of that I am being made righteous through my faith in You. Teach me to be humble and that all of this is because of Your grace and Your goodness. In the name of Jesus I pray.
